A new year a new… (who?)

Well I hesitate to say “a new me” because by this point, I realize that “new” rarely means much with regards to  personalities, persuasions, proclivities…  The New Year (in this case, 2009) – if I am lucky – will see me follow through on at least one of the several new ideas, plans, projects that I have started in the past couple of months.

This blog is one, of course.  Amusingly enough, though, the last time I logged in was May of this year when I claimed the inspiring blog name “Incantare”, fusing my luke-warm fascination with the occult and my intense desire to parlare Italiano.  BUT that is an interesting thing:  learning Italian is one of the new projects that I am (finally) undertaking.  Very excited about this one!  For the full list, see below:

• Starting a new “professional” blog – or what I hope will become one.  Stay tuned for links!
• Blogging in general – you know  for introspection / personal interest (yeah only a decade behind the curve on this trend! )
• Learning Italian (for real this time – no more learning how to count to venti with Alessio my former hair dresser)
• COOKING:  becoming really good at it.  It has grown from a slight interest in my mid-to-late 20s only to emerge as one of my favorite things to research, think about, investigate and actually practice.  New cookbooks to arrive any day now (Merry Christmas to me!).
• Figuring out to do with the rest of my life.  (Not a true or new undertaking, but I gotta add it here or else it will never get addressed).

So that is where my life stands almost on the eve of 2009.  I am glad to have started this one post.  It feels like the beginning of a beginning and, hey, at least that’s a start…
